EMCAF is managed by Allianz Global Investors, a leading asset manager and one of the largest infrastructure investors globally, and advised by European Investment Bank, the EU’s climate bank. In this first of its kind partnership, AllianzGI manages the Fund as its Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) and is responsible for its performance while EIB provides its sourcing network, climate finance expertise and due diligence rigor on environmental and social topics.

EIB is the largest multi-lateral provider of finance in support of climate action. Since 2012, the EIB has provided EUR 197 billion of finance supporting over EUR 670 billion of investment in projects that protect the environment, reduce emissions and help countries adapt to the impacts of climate change.

Since 2005, EIB signed over 80 infrastructure funds for total commitments of over EUR 3.8bn. The EIB team that will advise EMCAF also manages the Global Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Fund (GEEREF), the predecessor strategy to EMCAF.

AllianzGI is a global investment firm with EUR 538bn+ in AuM and strong alternative business with more than EUR 80bn AuM across Europe, Asia & the US. Within Renewables direct investments, Allianz has carried out investments of more than EUR 5.9bn in over 130 deals.

The dedicated Impact Investment team led by Martin Ewald currently manages three funds. EMCAF is its second blended finance vehicle.
